Dear Parents and Guardians,
I am delighted to introduce myself as Miss Young, your child’s Year 3 class teacher for this school year. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with your children and to be a part of their journey in learning and growth.
The adults in the class this year are: Miss Young (Class teacher), Mrs Hammond (who will be teaching the children every Thursday) and Ms Axon our class TA.
This year, we have an exciting curriculum planned that will challenge the children academically while also fostering their creativity and critical thinking skills.
Key Information:
- PE Days: Wednesday and Friday. Please ensure children wear the appropriate PE kit.
- Forest School: Children will participate in Forest School in Term 1, please send them with suitable clothing.
- Playtime: OPAL play will be outdoors in all weather. Please provide wellies to keep at school.
- Homework: The children will have weekly homework to support their learning in class. Homework will be collected every Friday for marking and will be sent back home on the same day, allowing time for the tasks to be completed over the weekend.
- Spellings: The children will be placed in spelling groups based on their ability and will receive their spellings every Monday, with a test scheduled for Wednesday. They are welcome to take their spelling books home for additional practice, but please ensure they bring them back to school every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, as we will be using them in class. If you would like a copy of your child’s termly spelling list, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Reading:
We actively encourage all children to read both inside and outside of the classroom, as regular reading is key to developing strong literacy skills. We ask that you support this by encouraging your child to read at least five times a week and to record each reading session in their reading records. This practice helps us monitor their progress and celebrate their achievements in reading.
Maths:
In KS2, your children will be furthering their mathematic knowledge through their times tables. To support this, each child has an account on Times Tables Rock Stars (https://ttrockstars.com/), an engaging online platform that helps them practice and
I believe that a strong partnership between home and school is key to a successful year, so I will do my best to keep you informed about your child’s progress and any upcoming events or activities. If you ever have any questions or concerns, my door is always open after school or please feel free to contact me via the email – ayoung@charing.kent.sch.uk
I am really looking forward to getting to know your child and working with you to support their learning journey this year. Thank you in advance for your support and collaboration.
