Welcome back! I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and wish you all the very best for the New Year.

This term our writing will be based on the text The Secret Diary of Jane Pinny. This is to run alongside our history topic all about the Victorians. The children will all read every day at school and will be listened to by an adult at least once per week. It is hugely beneficial for children to read daily at home too; they will be awarded a dojo each day they read at home and their diary is signed and they can get a small prize after they have read 10 times. Your help with this is much appreciated.
In maths we will concentrate on number and place value, multiplication, division and fractions. With our ever-increasing numbers the maths is becoming quite a challenge! It would be very helpful if your children could practise at least the 2, 5 and 10 x tables for short bursts perhaps on the way to school each day just to keep them fresh in their minds.
Our science is learning all about animals including humans. We will learn how our bodies digest food and how to classify different species of animal. In music we will learn songs about travelling around the world
Our PE days this term are Tuesday and Friday. Please ensure your child has the correct PE uniform. Also on a Friday we have our forest school sessions. Again, please ensure your child has appropriate outdoor clothing: waterproofs/wellies/coats/suncream/sunhats etc.
